Daily Play @ Berkshire Museum

Kids of all ages are invited to build, collaborate, experiment, and learn with the big blue blocks of the Imagination Playground, colorful Bilderhoos boards, magnetic Tegu blocks, and tables piled high with LEGO bricks at the center of the Museum. In the popular Tinker Lab, older children can take apart old electronics to create something new. At the Animation Station, kids and adults will explore the world of animation and learn how to create their own animations using various methods as part of The Art of Warner Bros. Cartoons.

“New Branches on Ten Old Trees” Laszlo Gardony, unaccompanied piano @ Berkshire Museum

Piano virtuoso Laszlo Gardony performs fresh, modern but soulful arrangements of beloved old tunes, and covering ten styles and genres (jazz, Negro spirituals, rock, funk, Broadway, Neapolitan, etc.). Based in part on his new, highly-acclaimed CD “La Marseillaise,” his adaptations include the title song and nine other familiar tunes, from Misty to Eleanor Rigby, Lady Madonna to Summertime, and myriad in between. Known as an innovator for both his composing and performance approaches, Hungarian-born Laszlo Gardony is also a professor of piano at the Berklee College of Music. He made his local debut at the Berkshire Museum nearly 20 years ago, and has developed a strong regional and national following.

Darrow School 10×10 Workshops @ Lichtenstein Center for the Arts

Ted Lightburn, Science Department Chair, Hands-to-Work Director – Students from The Darrow School will demonstrate air pressure concepts through a hands-on demonstration where children will make a Cartesian Diver that they can take home with them. These Darrow Juniors in high school have recently completed a unit on gas pressure. They will be able to explain how pressure and volume are related in an experiment that they can re-create almost anywhere with easily found materials. Suitable for all ages.
