This talk with celebrated woodworker C.H. Becksvoort will explore the history, evolution, design, and craftsmanship of Shaker furniture. Following the publication of his third book, Shaker Inspiration, Becksvoort takes an in-depth look at furniture as a classic and enduring contribution of the Shakers.

Christian Becksvoort is a master woodworker with five decades of experience working in a variety of custom, architectural, and furniture shops.

Join us for a screening of Who Will Write Our History followed by a candle lighting to mark Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Film synopsis: In November 1940, days after the Nazis sealed 450,000 Jews in the Warsaw ghetto, a secret band of journalists, scholars and community leaders decides to fight back. Led by historian Emanuel Ringelblum and known by the code name Oyneg Shabes, this clandestine group vows to defeat Nazi lies and propaganda, not with guns or fists but with pen and paper.

Give forest bathing a try with Hannah Fries, a poet and author of Forest Bathing Retreat. Hannah will lead a walk for all ages on the 1-mile accessible trail to calm the chatter of your mind and awaken your senses as you immerse yourself in nature.

Homeschool STEAM Spring Program: Robotics @ Berkshire Museum

Fascinated by LEGO bricks and technology? Over the period of four weeks, learn how to build and code a LEGO Mindstorms robot to execute every command. Utilize reading and math skills to design and implement the programs.

This series of four 1-hour sessions is designed specifically for homeschool families. A space to eat lunch will be made available so families can eat and mingle after each program. Recommended for, but not limited to, children ages 8 to 12.
