"Still a Student" Art Show @ Koussevitzky Art Gallery

For the entire month of April, 2019, the Koussevitzky Art Gallery is showcasing the work of artist Brian DiNicola, who  is a traditional media based artist.  He received his BFA in Illustration from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2011.  Upon graduating he enrolled in their MFA program in Painting.  He graduated in 2013 and immediately began applying his work to exhibitions and galleries.

Within the past six years, Brian has exhibited forty-seven times.  His work has traveled to Boston, California, New York, Chicago, Connecticut, and even Canada.  Brian’s paintings circulate in print and locally in the Berkshires.  He pursues competitions frequently to advance his professional record.  More recently, ‘Richeson Competitions’ and Trekell Art Supplies/Gamblin Colors featured Brian’s portraits through juried contests.

Celebrate spring and meet our newest additions – lambs, piglets, calves, chicks, and kids in the Round Stone Barn. Explore the hands-on Discovery Barn, make things, and stay for story time. Visit the Shaker Schoolhouse. Hear the Shakers’ story of sustainability. Have fun on the trail. Come for live music and sing along. Visit on Thursdays and stay longer (‘til 5pm). Spend Easter with us and celebrate Earth Day. Pony rides, face painting, balloon art. See cooking, blacksmithing, woodworking, sheep shearing, spinning, and weaving demos.

Makers’ Day: Blacksmithing 101 @ Hancock Shaker Village

Learn basic skills using traditional blacksmith’s tools and techniques in a coal-fired forge. Make hooks, then move on to kitchen utensils or another project of your choice. No experience necessary.

Get wild at Berkshire Museum! Meet exotic creatures including Norman, the Argentinian Tegu; a live tarantula; a six-foot-long snake; and more! Visitors will have a chance to interact with the animals after each performance.

Spend a late afternoon hour meeting a heritage breed animal and making art.  Draw with pencil, color with crayons, or cut a collage to design your version of a barnyard friend. If creativity makes you thirsty, we have juice (sorry, folks, this is a dry event). You can hang your work in our gallery or at home on your fridge.

Sing along with the Cuban song Los Pollitos about baby chicks, repeat the refrain in the French tale Bâtis, Bâtis!, answer “Yes Sir!” in rhythm to the African American Did You Feed My Cow?, and more! Tim plays guitar, dulcimer, an Andean rattle, and a lumberjack. What’s a lumberjack? Visit and see!
