The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts is a community arts center housed in a historic building in Pittsfield’s Upstreet Cultural District. Inside, there’s an exhibiting art gallery and performance area, workshops, working artist studios, a ceramic studio and a dark room. Located at 28 Renne Avenue off of Fenn Street, these facilities are open to the public. Exhibiting gallery hours are Wednesdays through Saturdays, 12pm to 5pm.
Art shows! Currently, the Lichtenstein features work of local and regional artists and craftspeople of all types in exhibits that rotate approximately every month. Annual exhibits include the BAA Fellowship show, a high school art show and Ten Spot, shown in conjunction with the 10X10 Upstreet Arts Festival.
Events & Performances! The Lichtenstein features performances and readings by a variety of musicians, dancers, actors and poets, like the Town Players of Pittsfield, Berkshires Jazz and many other community institutions.
Artist Studios! Nine individual studios are housed in the Lichtenstein, rented by local and regional—joining over 40 other working artist studios in downtown Pittsfield, adding to an already thriving creative community. Classes and Workshops! A variety of classes are offered at the Lichtenstein throughout the year. Here is a brief list of some current classes offered here:
In this workshop, you will learn traditional decoupage techniques as well as more sophisticated approaches to design, taught by full-time artist Jenn Sherr. Decoupage is the art of decorating an object by using special papers. Faux painting will also be included. A fresh take on decoupage, this workshop is for both advanced and beginning students. All necessary supplies are included in the price of this workshop.

Weekly Afro-Cuban Drumming Class with Aimee Gelinas
Every Monday evening the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts fills with lots of education and rhythm. Aimee Gelinas teaches expert Afro-Cuban drum beats. Drums are available to borrow. Youth classes begin at 6 and Adult classes start at 7. To register, contact Aimee at email@example.com

Periodically, instructor Jim Horsford hosts a series of pottery classes at the Lichtenstein. This six-week program takes people of any experience level through a step-by-step process on how to create pots, mugs and bowls using clay. Check back for starting dates and times for these workshops.
